Within 2011 to 2020, Russia is planning to embark on experimental extraction of ferrimanganese ores from the ocean floor. How can extraction be performed in the optimal way? Investigation of the problem has been funded by the Russian Foundation for Basic Research, Program for support to leading scientific schools and the Program of the RAS Presidium “Fundamental Oceanology Problems: Physics, Geology, Biology, Ecology”.
