The quantity Russian population of Amur tigers has become known. Preliminary calculations carried out in winter of 2004-2005 showed that the total quantity of tigers inhabiting the Far East of Russia made about 500 individuals, including 334 to 417 adult animals and 97 to 112 tiger cubs. These results were announced at the press conference of the WWF Russia and the Ministry of Natural Resources.
