The Perccottus glenii (goby), inhabiting the Amur river, do not hibernate in the bottom silt, they spend winter in the cavities in the ice. The researchers from Moscow University (Biological Faculty) have come to learn about this phenomenon from the fishers of the town of Belogorsk, Amur region, who observed this fish species' behavior in a small lake.

A joint Russian-Italian expedition on board of a high-altitude airplane has found out that the ozone hole above Antarctic increased by 1.5 times. The study has been accomplished in the framework of the APE-GAIA program with the support of the Space Agency of Italy (ASI) and the National Program of Italy for Exploration of Antarctic (PRNA).
